The Liberty Belle

No, belle is not misspelled. Liberty Belle is one of the less than 20 WWII B-17 bombers that is still flying. It was flying out of Albuquerque this weekend and those who wanted to pay could get a real feel of what it was like to fly in one of the old planes. I for one, love to see them. I had the very good fortune to get up close and personal with a restored Mitchell B-25 one time. It was one of the better experiences of my life. There aren’t a lot of the old planes flying anymore. I guess it is a natural progression of history that sooner or later everything we knew will not be here. However for many of us that grew up right after the War the sound of radial engines will always bring a wonderful feeling of nostalgia.
