I can’t believe what I just read at betanews.com!, the CEO of Warner Music,Edgar Bronfman, admitting that “a state of war exists between consumers and publishers of digital music”??? Wow! It took him a long time to come to the obvious conclusion. Yeah, there is a state of war going on between the music industry and it’s consumers. The industry is going around and suing everyone they can catch sharing music files with each other. What if grocery stores decided that if I buy a loaf of bread it is for me and me only and I have no right to share it with my neighbor unless I pay extra royalties?? Darn, I better not give ‘em any ideas!
Bronfman also hints at the real problem in the music industry today when he admits that the industry offers up a bunch of crap. That is the heart of the problem for a whole bunch of us out here in radioland, especially us old boomers. I haven’t bought a CD in a couple of years because there just ain’t a lot out there that I like and by what I am seeing on the Internet I am not alone. I like country music but the modern stuff out there now is horrible noise. It isn’t country and it isn’t rock and roll. It is crap! Rock is just as bad. I finally heard a new rock song I like. It’s called “Delilah” and it has an older folk feel to it, good vocals and a wonderful chord structure. Think about it! I have found one popular song to like in 5 or 6 years! Is it any wonder I don’t buy music these days? And then of course there is the wonderful phenomenon that is so prevalent these days of getting maybe 2 good songs on an album and the rest being straight filler, boring crappy filler. But do we pay for just the songs we want?? Yeah right! Kids these days want to share music. Heck yeah! Warner Music getting smart?? Maybe!

You are so right. We just want to listen to the music!
