Back In Action

It’s been a while and I need to write something here if for no other reason that I get a guilty conscience looking at my neglected blog. Medical problems in the family have kept me way too busy but things are calming down now so here goes.

I really have to say what’s on my mind today and that has to do with the election. It looks like McCain doesn’t have a chance. The economy has nixed his campaign. So, it looks like we will have a far left president and a further left Congress. The door is wide open for a real dose of socialism in this country. I have to figure out what to do because no matter what the Obama campaign says we all will pay a bunch more in taxes. It will be in the form of higher prices for all kinds of essentials because businesses will have to pass on their increased tax burden and we will have rampant inflation because the new administration will have no choice but to print a bunch more money to be able to keep even a part of the promises they have made. The irony of it all is that all those low income and middle class voters that have fallen for Obama’s promises of change will bear the worst financial burden of it all.

How easily we have forgotten the lessons of the 70′s and early 80′s when the Government Mint printing presses were running over time but I haven’t. I will always remember making $6500 a year in 1972 and having money to burn and then making $12,000 a year in 1983 and barely making it. The public lost over half its buying power in around 10 years. I have not forgotten the 18% interest on housing mortgages either although I, by the grace of God was exempt from that because I bought a house before the shit really hit the fan and my mom, God bless her, gave me the money for the down payment. I had a 7.5% interest rate and darn glad of it and we are now screaming because we think 6% is too high???

Sometimes we get what we wish for and then oh how we wish we had not gotten it. All of us who work or, like me, have worked all their lives and now are retired better get used to hard times because they are coming in spades. You think only the rich are going to get taxed?? Better get used to being rich!

More later.

  • You know, I have to tell you, I really enjoy this blog and the insight from everyone who participates. I find it to be refreshing and very informative. I wish there were more blogs like it. Anyway, I felt it was about time I posted, I’ve spent most of my time here just lurking and reading, but today for some reason I just felt compelled to say this.

Great stuff! The zombies that vote for Obama will end up footing the bill allright!
