I am developing a list of great places to eat in New Mexico and neighboring states. I recommend them because I have eaten there. These are in no particular order, however the Comet is truly number one.
- The Comet Restaurant in Santa Rosa, New Mexico. It is on old Highway 66 in the middle of town. It is the best New Mexico style food anywhere in the state and if you like HOT chile it is your place. Prices are reasonable as well. My favorite New Mexican restaurant.
- The La Fonda in Santa Fe, New Mexico. It is right off the Plaza and even though quite expensive the food is great and they have live entertainment on certain nights.
- Kixx on 66 in Tucumcari, New Mexico and on old Highway 66. A very clean place. The coffee is great and so are the breakfasts. I eat there often.
- Cafe Pasquale’s in Santa Fe, New Mexico. It used to be the old Mayflower Cafe. Just off the Plaza and they have really great tortilla soup.
- Le Bistro in Santa Fe, new Mexico. Just down from the State Capitol on Old Santa Fe Trail. Breakfast and lunch only. Their bread is out of this world.
- The Rockin’ Y in Tucumcari, New Mexico. It is at the corner of US 54 and US 66. Great food and great prices. Their enchiladas are super!
- The Big Texan in Amarillo, Texas. It is on the east side of Amarillo and on the north side of I-40. Good food and if you can eat the 72 oz. steak and meal in one hour you get it free! I once saw a defensive tackle from OSU eat it in just over 30 minutes and then buy himself a Snickers and eat it on the way out.
- PF Chang’s in Albuquerque, New Mexico. They are just off Jefferson on the west side of I-25. Expensive but good.
- Furr’s Cafeteria in Clovis, New Mexico. They are in the shopping center on 21st Street. A lot of Furr’s Cafeterias have gone down hill but this one has maintained an excellent standard.
