There is an ongoing conversation in the media now about whether the so-called “old media”, meaning left wing organizations such as TV nightly news, newspapers and news magazines will be able to survive in this new media age of the internet and 24 hour cable news. Some are saying that the “news” is dead but here is my take on it.

The news is not dead and never will be. Even in the old Soviet Union news traveled by samizdat and most people knew that whatever Pravda and Izvestia printed was a lie. Thus the saying, “In the Truth there is no news, and in the News there is no truth”. (If you don’t know what the quote means do some research.)

So, the real problem that ABC, CBS, NBC and the rest of the left wing press has is that I, along with lots of others, no longer believe that they are telling us the truth. They served as constant cheerleaders to the Obama campaign and constant denigrators of the Bush administration. They have become as Pravda and Izvestia, media organs of the state. Lots of Americans simply don’t watch their news programs or read their papers and that means that there are fewer eyes on the commercials they run and their corporate sponsors know that. Is it any wonder that the Obama administration wants to prop them up with federal money and tax the new media to do it?

If the old media wants to survive they might consider upgrading their product which in this day and time means telling the truth and avoiding left wing partisan slants. A little fairness would go a long way.

Most of us now know who Joe Stack was after learning of his flying his airplane into the IRS office in Texas. The Main Stream Media (MSM) has attempted to make him into a Tea Party type guy. Good try by the leftist media taking their orders from the Obama administration but no soap.

After reading his “manifesto” on the SmokingGun, he seemed to me to be a self-centered, self-pitying leftist. He, after all, made a positive statement about communism and a negative statement about capitalism. The proof of his true political leanings is the frantic scrambling the MSM did to try and pin the label of “tea party” on him. They knew who he was and attempted to switch his political identity. Like most of their attacks on the majority of us regular citizens, it failed.

My advice to the MSM is keep on keeping on. Your lying attempts to destroy the Tea Party movement only make it stronger. Do you wonder why so many of us don’t watch your nightly news shows and read your newspapers anymore?? And I guess my next question is, why do you hate those of us that want and work for good, efficient, honest, fiscally conservative and constitutional government?

Now the latest mantra coming out of the administration and the far left Democrats is that the big banks must be punished for their misdeeds. What a laugh! Obama and the left wing Democrats take on Wall Street and the big investment banks??? I doubt it when Goldman Sachs and the rest were his big contributors.

Rest easy folks, this is all a rhetorical shell game charade that is meant to go nowhere. I bet the word has already gone out to the bankers “don’t worry, we have to make you look like villains for a while to cover up for our screw ups but keep the campaign contributions coming in and we will take good care of you”.

When are we Americans going to realize that when politicians target an industry or a segment of society all they are doing is trolling for cash? Call me cynical if you want.

John Stephenson wrote an excellent article on Pajamas Media and the role of the ACLU in getting Eric Holder to hold Khalid Mohammed’s terrorist trial in a civilian court in New York instead of trying him in a military tribunal and here is what I feel is the most important thing he said, “with an $8.5 million budget to defend terrorists currently held at Guantanamo.”

Since “follow the money” is the first rule of politics, that $8.5 million might be important especially in the light of the millions more to come and all of it from taxpayers’ pockets. How much of that will ultimately end back up as campaign contributions to Democrat PAC’s from the ACLU and its members? Foolish question?

The ACLU and fellow travelers get to push their socialist agenda, Democrat politicians get campaign contributions they don’t have to stump for and all of it on the taxpayers’ dime. Who says you can’t have your cake and eat it too!

Oh, one more silly little question, “who gets to pay for the added security for the trial and, just in case the worst happens, who gets to pay for the damage from another Islamic terrorist attack connected with the trial”? Oh silly me, I should have known! It’s the taxpayers again!

I have been following the “Van Jones” affair for a few days now and I must say that I am perplexed. Not at the outcry at his words and actions that sunk him but the one action that most are focusing on. By this I mean his signature on a “truther” petition. For those that don’t know what the word “truther” refers to it describes someone who believes that the Bush administration and Israel engineered the 9/11 attacks. Truthers are the conspiracy theorist fringe of the anti-semitic anarchistic left.

Roger Simon wrote an op ed piece in Pajamas Media that discussed Glenn Beck’s role in the uncovering of Van Jones’ world views and the fact that Beck had scooped big media on this. He also compared Beck’s role to the silence coming out of the New York Times.

The comments posted on Simon’s piece were fairly consistent with most of the comments left at other articles concerning Van Jones’ resignation. None, except for one poster, really focused on the real rot behind the man’s ideology and I kept wondering about this. Why just the thin surface responses and not looking deeper into Jones’ thought patterns and beliefs and the real reasons why he was hired by the Obama administration in the first place? Why not a deeper examination of his avowed Communist beliefs, his racist statements and, for me the worst of all, his anti-semitic rants.

The responses from the left have been pretty predictable ranging from “Jones is the victim of a witch hunt” to “Obama has betrayed him and should have defended him”. They ignore however, that all that was needed was to expose his real words and actions to the general public. Hate does not like light.

In conclusion, not only did the Obama administration hire the man but put him in a position to carry out his Marxist, racist and anti-semitic delusions using the power of the federal government. Why?

“When a man believes that any stick will do, he at once picks up a boomerang.” – G.K. Chesterton

(By the way, if you don’t understand what Chesterton said there is nothing I can do for you)

I came across this quote from the English writer, essayist and playwright in a column by Nick Cohen in the online version of the Guardian, a British newspaper. At once I realized he had hit the bulls-eye in his analysis of the Left’s visceral reaction to McCain’s picking of Sarah Palin to be his running mate. The spewing out of hate and venom was stunning. The lie that her downs syndrome baby was not hers but her daughter’s was totally breathtaking in its audacity. The Obama campaign wisely condemned it right out of the box. They understand political boomerangs. Can they control their operatives? Probably not.

I won’t go into all the loathsome, malicious, malevolent and sexist stuff that has the stink of fear all over it that has been excreted out of the rotten hate filled bowels of the Left concerning her. It is all over the Internet and readily available to anyone who wishes to access it.

Was I was surprised? Not at all. This what we have come to expect from political campaigns these days but I must say it is not new. All one has to do is look at American politics of the early 1800′s to get a real good idea of what political opponents are capable of. It is nearly always self-defeating. Is it going to continue? Of course, because like unthinking brutes the haters “know not what they do”. In the case of Palin they unwittingly have taken a smart, funny, capable and hardworking woman who was a relative unknown and made a folk hero out of her.

Sarah Palin is an American woman. She is not an elitist that looks down on “the masses”. She is one of us and we know her and like her. As for me I say to her, “You go girl! We love you!”

As many have said, we live in interesting times and this year’s election season is no exception. Who would have thought, just a few months ago, that the “presumptive Democrat nominee” would be now fighting for her political life and that the Republican front-runner was dismissed as a “also ran” with hardly any campaign cash at all. As someone said, “stranger things have happened but have we seen them?”

There is some poetic justice in the fact that Hillary Clinton, who, it appears, was promoting her own coronation, may now not even get the nomination. I say “may not get it” because it’s hard to count the Clintons out even when they are down and the real dirty tricks have yet to be played. Wait until the backroom deals start to be made amongst the mucky mucks of the Democratic Party. However, it would make me exceedingly happy to see Bill Clinton denied a third term in the White House. And, while on the subject of Bill Clinton, why did he possibly ruin her chances amongst blacks by committing the ultimate political sin of race baiting Obama? Did he really think it was necessary so therefore he was the best to be the heavy and get it done or was he trying to sabotage her campaign thinking that if she won and was a better president than he it would further deteriorate his “legacy”?

In any event, his “legacy” is pretty well tarnished since he has exposed his sordid character to the whole world once again. There is practically no loathesome action or actual crime that can’t be excused amongst the left wing in this day and age, including mass murder and genocide, so even though Bill could be excused for selling the Lincoln Bedroom, taking campaign cash from the Chinese, raping women, selling pardons, loosing his law license for lying to a grand jury and making millions off lucrative back room deals, it is meet that he discovered that acts of racism against the party faithful for political gain wasn’t to be tolerated. This time he really fell off the wall and as “they” say, all of his big media pals “couldn’t put Humpty Dumpty back together again”.

I for one will be glad to see the Clintons with their overweening lusts for power, self-aggrandizement and especially money move off the stage of history.

More to come.
