2010 is almost history. It’s a good thing too, at least in my opinion. Not that I could say that the year was a complete wash because there were some bright spots in it for sure. The high note for me was the November elections when the voting public decided that some sanity was needed in government and handed a much needed rebuff to the far left Democrats and socialists in control. Hopefully 2011 will prove to be a true rebuilding year and this country will be able to get back to work.

If you read some of my posts you will see that I love music and love to play music, especially the fiddle. In that vein, I discovered a wonderful book. It is “The Violin Maker: Finding a Centuries-Old Tradition in a Brooklyn Workshop” by John Marchese. I am now reading it for the second time and enjoying it even more than the first. It is a good read and I would recommend it for anyone that loves violins. Another great book I came across, dealing with violins and their players, was “Stradavari’s Genius: Five Violins, One Cello and Three Centuries of Enduring Perfection” by Toby Faber. The title is self descriptive. It is a very good book.

I have to say that, as for me, the year was an almost complete wash. I have no idea what I actually accomplished except for rebuilding a quarter mile section of fence on the east side of my property. Well, I did get most of the outside of the house repainted and I started learning how to play “Jerusalem Ridge”, a great tune by Bill Monroe and I did include a new section here about New Mexico Hispanic musicians.

Well, here is wishing all a very good 2011. We need a good year. It just seems like the whole country is exhausted.

Interesting elections for sure. The Republicans have garnered a second chance and I hope they are smart about how they use it because if not, this might be their last chance. There is little they can do to undo the damage of the last two years because they only control the House but they need to press forward anyway and let the Senate and the president take the blame for any failures. They are going to need a very smart and effective media policy because they are going to to have a big target on them and the major media outlets are going to demonize them like never before. They better get out and get the word out about their efforts to introduce some sanity and prudence in government. The public will understand that the House will not be able to change much because any reasonable and effective measures will be killed in the Senate or vetoed by Obama. Obama by the way, in his press conference today, has shown no inclination that he understands what has happened and he basically is quite defiant.

Here in New Mexico we did elect a conservative Republican for governor, Susana Martinez. She will have a massive job ahead of her just to clean up some of the corruption and mess left by Bill Richardson, who I consider the worst governor we have ever had. The other bright spot is that our Congressional District 2 returned to conservative Republican hands. However we still have 2 very liberal representatives in Districts 1 and 2 and both of our senators are very far left.

How will things turn out? Who knows but for the sake of the nation I hope that the various parties in Congress and the president will work together for the good of the American people but I doubt it will happen.

I don’t know what to do about it, and I have not read any other opinions on what to do about it. It looks like the Republican Party is still dead in the water and will be for a long time to come.

A friend of mine sent me a copy of a letter to the editor that he wrote to his local Santa Fe New Mexico newspaper right after the election. He has always been better than I with words. By the way, for those of you that are not familiar with New Mexico politics Santa Fe, which is the state capital, is the belly of the liberal beast in New Mexico.

Now the letter to the editor:

“Congratulations Democrats! You’ve won, Big time! You now control the entire Federal Government. You own all the levers of power. You should also realize that you own the consequences of this Socialist Workers Paradise that you are creating. You own the unemployment rate, the tax rates, the Dow/Nasdaq Averages, the GNP, future SAT scores, the price of oil, the crime rate, and the inflation rate. You own every body-bag that comes home to America. You own the Iraqi war and the consequences of a cowardly retreat. You also own Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, North Korea, Russia, Hamas, Hezbollah, Osama bin Laden, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Hugo Chaves, and Kim Jong-il. Those of us that did not drink the Kool-Aid, will be watching every move your Democratic dictatorship makes… and we WILL hold you accountable. By the way, I’m a retiree. Where do I pick up all the free stuff Obama promised me?”

I love it!!!

I guess that my reaction to the election yesterday is that of a person who has been warned a flood is coming and has been hoping against hope that it won’t be as bad as predicted but as it turned out, it was. So I am just going to pour out all my frustrations here and the first thing to get off my chest is the intense anger at the Republican Party for the venal and corrupt manner it has abandoned conservative principals of limited and frugal government. The leadership knew what was at stake and didn’t care. The Republican Party slate needs to be wiped clean and hopefully it will. God knows John McCain and Sarah Palin tried hard enough and I feel she will be an upcoming influence for good government in the party.

This election was a flood and make no mistake about it. With the election of Barak Obama, and even more far left Democrats in the Senate and the House, the American electorate has voted for utopian change and they are going to get it in a big way but will it be the change they think they are getting? I predict it will not. History teaches us that utopian dreams always end up as nightmares; witness Nazi Germany, Soviet Russia and the recent rise of fundamentalist Islam.

The public has made a bargain with evil and what will come forth will be a flood of filth that will wash over this nation as never before. The Culture of Death has been ratified. The abortion mills, greased with taxpayer money, will be running overtime. With the advent of universal health care euthanasia will become commonplace as it will be decided that the sick, elderly and handicapped are no longer assets but liabilities, protecting children from pedophiles will be considered passe and hate speech laws will be attempted to be used to prosecute anyone who dares protest any of this. We will see attempts to use special police to enforce the coming “crime against society” laws and if things get really bad our military’s guns will not be used against our enemies but against our own citizens.

Robert Bork, some years back, wrote a book called “Slouching Towards Gomorrah”. We are not slouching towards Gomorrah any more. We are running towards it and as it was in that day there will be judgment. God will only tolerate the slaughter of the innocents so long.

Finally one more thought. Obama says he wants to unify this nation but this nation is more divided than it has been since the 1960′s. Unity will not happen but now he and the Democratic Party own the problems and there are going to be a bunch of us that will hold both him and the Democratic Party responsible because it is no longer “Bush’s fault”.

As many have said, we live in interesting times and this year’s election season is no exception. Who would have thought, just a few months ago, that the “presumptive Democrat nominee” would be now fighting for her political life and that the Republican front-runner was dismissed as a “also ran” with hardly any campaign cash at all. As someone said, “stranger things have happened but have we seen them?”

There is some poetic justice in the fact that Hillary Clinton, who, it appears, was promoting her own coronation, may now not even get the nomination. I say “may not get it” because it’s hard to count the Clintons out even when they are down and the real dirty tricks have yet to be played. Wait until the backroom deals start to be made amongst the mucky mucks of the Democratic Party. However, it would make me exceedingly happy to see Bill Clinton denied a third term in the White House. And, while on the subject of Bill Clinton, why did he possibly ruin her chances amongst blacks by committing the ultimate political sin of race baiting Obama? Did he really think it was necessary so therefore he was the best to be the heavy and get it done or was he trying to sabotage her campaign thinking that if she won and was a better president than he it would further deteriorate his “legacy”?

In any event, his “legacy” is pretty well tarnished since he has exposed his sordid character to the whole world once again. There is practically no loathesome action or actual crime that can’t be excused amongst the left wing in this day and age, including mass murder and genocide, so even though Bill could be excused for selling the Lincoln Bedroom, taking campaign cash from the Chinese, raping women, selling pardons, loosing his law license for lying to a grand jury and making millions off lucrative back room deals, it is meet that he discovered that acts of racism against the party faithful for political gain wasn’t to be tolerated. This time he really fell off the wall and as “they” say, all of his big media pals “couldn’t put Humpty Dumpty back together again”.

I for one will be glad to see the Clintons with their overweening lusts for power, self-aggrandizement and especially money move off the stage of history.

More to come.
